"A meditative practice in finding balance and strength. The story experienced is in the breath."  Phoenix

Professional Approach

My professional name is Dr. Michelle Atanante Kung, PhD., LAc., RCC. I hold a doctorate in Clinical Health Psychology and am a Registered Clinical Counsellor in Canada. I am also a medical practitioner in California, where I have been in practice for over 20 years alongside my work as a neuroscience researcher at UCLA. Socially, I go by my Chinese translated name, Phoenix (龔綺鳳), which reflects an important connection to my cultural heritage and the knowledge and experiences that shape my work.

My practice combines somatic therapy and neuroscience within a trauma-informed framework that attends to both mind and body. I bring high cultural awareness and understanding to this work, with a particular focus on the lived experiences of minority communities navigating complex questions of systemic forces that impact identity and belonging. Drawing on experience in medical, educational, and legal systems, I now concentrate on one-to-one care, supporting you in developing inner calm, balance, and strength that can positively shape your relationships and your connection to the world around you.
